Bye Bye Lib

This was the saddest day in recently history for our family...we decided to put Libby down. Our dear friend Lisa who is also Libby's doc put her down at her clinic so we knew she was in good hands. It was the rainiest day all year...so sad...we didn't know what to do with ourselves.  Aston had gotten so attached to Libby and on this day, the day we needed to say goodbye, Aston learned to wave Bye Bye...and it was to her that he first showed us he knew how...i am loosing it just thinking about it!

This is the email we sent out:
To all of Libby’s Friends and Family:

Today is Libby’s last day:( We are ready and most of all we feel she is ready. Libby has been a best friend, a daughter, a sister, a patient and a loyal companion to many of us. She has taught me more life lessons than I will ever know. I will miss her more than I can start to describe. She has been with me for half my life and will always be my BFF.

She has taken up permanent residence in our living room for one and a half years now and that has become normal for us. She has been such a good sport throughout this hardship. She runs around on her wheels as if she was born with them and she calmly lies on her big comfy bed all day long giving us faithful joy each time we walk in.

She still loves to sniff the air when we open the windows, she still loves to dive for the squirrel that is 100 yards away, she still chews her bones no matter how stale, she still loves to give Aston kisses (don’t tell Jeff), she still loves to chase Jeff’s golf balls (and not give them back), she still loves to beg for anything that may be edible and most of all she still loves to make us happy in anyway that she can. This is why we feel its ok to let her go. We are saying goodbye to her while she is still the Libby we all know and love and that’s the way we will remember her.

Thank you all for your support through this sad time.

So long Libs…you did good…we love you!

Oh gosh, Kate. I have tears streaming down my face. My favorite picture is the one with A playing with Libby's paw; what is it about their paws that the kids gravitate to, anyway? I want to think that Libby and Ollie are running around and playing with each other in doggie heaven...
