Aston watched the commercial for the Charlotte Auto Show several weeks ago and ask me to rewind it over and over again on our DVR. He wanted to see the Audi R8 they were showcasing…so when Babs asked last weekend if we thought he might like to go to the show we were like OF COURSE! We ended up meeting BB and Babs at the EAST/WEST train stop by Pikes Old Fashion Soda Shop on Camden road and taking the light rail to the Convention Center where the show was held. Aston is always a sucker for a train ride and although he has been several times with BB and Babs, Jeff, Stell and I had yet to try it out.
As we walked in we ran into the News Channel 36 team…and yes even weather man Larry Sprinkle. Aston has been a Larry fan since he was probably 11 months old. We watch him every morning to get the forecast for the day and for some reason Larry always makes him light up in the morning. I know I have a video somewhere of this but of course I can’t find it right now…he was crazy star struck here…

Then Babs spotted Mr. and Mrs. Claus riding on golf carts on their way back to their thrones. We followed them and waited in a short line. Bribed by the fact that they were giving away toy cars, Aston jumped right on Mrs. Claus’ lap. don’t think he ever looked at Santa or Mrs.Claus directly…he had his eye on the prize the whole time…ugh.

On our way home after lunch at Pikes Aston was PUNCHY! At nearly 2:30pm and no nap with hours of morning stimulation makes for this character…

What a perfect adventure for Aston! His passion for cars (real cars!) amazes me. Love the first shot w/ Larry Sprinkle (and can't believe that Aston is such a fan!). Some college friends used to live near Larry's brother -- a hippie w/ super long hair. The Sprinkles and their hair..... :)

looked at this days ago with poo and just realized i never commented. man, what a dream day for aston. perfect. showed kate aston sitting like a big boy with santa and the mrs. hoping that will help. love the storyboard of silly asty. larry sprinkle-that is really funny. that whole train and pikes is a great setup. will have to try sometime. so glad you ended up going!
