Gram's Visit - Through Her Lens

Gram flew in last Tuesday so Jeff and I could go on a mini adult vacation for a couple days. We had the opportunity to stay at La Bastide, a Cliffs owned inn located in the Greenville, SC area and participate a 2 day wellness evaluation at one of the nearby properties. This is the outside of the Inn...it oozed quaintness...

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Gram was snapping away. I had given her my Nikon D40 to document her stay! I didn't expect much knowing how difficult it it is to watch a 1 and a 3 year old without a camera in your face but she actually got some cool shots...

Apparently, Aston would sit on his stool in front of this window watching the construction outside and reconstruct the scene with all his work trucks...and the cape is a sneak peak for Halloween...has a race car on the back...just something from Etsy.com to spice up his Race Car Driver suit from last year:)

Gram, the kids, BB and Babs went to the Cowboy Cookout fundraiser at school one of the nights. Gram came to Charlotte prepared for the event with cowboy hats for the kids...such a Gram thing to do

This is one of the many Babs purchases at the fundraiser...a pink retro trike for his granddaughter...

apparently if Gram lost track of Stell, she would find her doing her hair in our bathroom (btw...Stell pulls up a stool to any counter, pantry, table now...its just her thing...and our new way of life...she has to see what's up there/grab what's up there...ugh)

Watching the workers pour the footers for the foundation...

and when it was time to come back home...Jeff and I arrived to this...

Some other notes/funnies documented by Gram:
  • GRAM: "Aston please eat every single strawberry" ASTON: "Hey Gram, I ate all the single ones."
  • Gram took Stell outside at the Cowboy Cookout. Stell looks up and says "Moon!" then says "Mommy R U?, Mommy Rrrrrrr Uuuuu?"
  • STELLYN: "Workmen R U?" looking out the window at the construction site
  • Gram couldn't figure out how to work the toaster or the microwave. Aston taught her how to use each and what buttons to push.
  • The 2 of them couldn't figure out the dishwasher so Aston said "I guess we have to wash them all in the sink!"
  • Aston always helped Gram clear the table
  • Games played: Red Light/Green Light, Giant Steps, Ring around the Rosie, Hide and Seek
  • TV Shows: 1 Thomas and 1 Backyardigans
  • Went to Discovery Place with BB on Thursday and then had lunch at Pikes with Wookie, BB and Babs
  • Lots of outside time and chats with the workmen...namely Mr. Benson as they watch the foundation being poured from the cement mixer!
  • While BB and Gram were chatting Aston was sitting back in his comfy chair playing with his cell phone (an old flip phone of ours), and he said "Oh Man...I didn't get any texts today!"
So...Gram...Jeff and I can't thank you enough for caring for our crazy crew of 2 for 2 straight days without knowing their routines at all. Hopefully we can do this some more and give BB and Babs a babysitting pass every so often. We love you...and...rest up...we're planing our next trip!:)

Oh I love it! Great pics Gram! The whole Aston watching the construction and recreating is so great. Man, Kate's gonna be jealous of that cape! I have been making her ones out of blankets. Very cool. Love Gram's comment about her being very tired ;) Hope she had a glass of wine (or two) as a reward ;). Yall's accommodations look great. That Mei getting into your stuff is too much !
