Asheville October 08

I wasn't prepared to be so impressed with the Cliffs communities! We decided to stay at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove so we would be able to explore the mountains, Asheville and the fall foliage....we ended up falling in love with the Cliffs. We were happy that BB and Babs were able to join us too. Aunt Megan stayed with us the first night too! She drove down from DC for a wedding she had on Saturday. We had a really nice 3 bedroom mountain house so she stayed with us before moving on to her more exciting activities!

Saturday morning we took a peek at Walnut Cove with Mark Van Natta. We thoroughly enjoyed Mark (as did Aston...he even wanted Mark to hold him!...i know...never happens:)) Mark showed us the best lots for the value. We ended up liking lot 11 the most with 2+ acres of distant golf and mountains views and a short walk across the street to the club! Mark was able to get Jeff and Babs on to play 9 at Walnut Cove before it got dark. The next day we went to see High Carolina at the Cliffs which will be Tiger Woods' 1st golf course design in the USA. Mark hooked us up with Barry for that tour.

Earlier in the day Babs, Jeff and I took helicopter ride that was a SUPERB! Asty was back at the house napping under BB's careful watch. The pilot was John. He pointed out all the Asheville hotspots before flying over High Carloina. From the air we could see Tiger's lot on a high mountain ridge with 360 deg views of basically the east coast:) He takes Tiger up in the helicopter when he visits so we got the inside scoop on how excited he is about the Cliffs and how he already has house plans done for his lot. High Carolina sits at 4400 feet above sea level about 25 minutes east of Walnut Cove on the other side of Asheville. We learned that Tiger would be hosting a party in Asheville on November 7th and 8th for all the reservation holders (those who put down a refundable deposit with possible intent to buy in the first release) so of course we were in! High Carolina, even with its lack of infrastructure, is absolutely breathtaking (not sure I have ever used that word:)). We walked several lots with none too shabby. Barry took away with him our top three lot choices, of course our top 2 have adamant interest already...so our chances are slim:(

Barry came along with us to brunch at the Grove Park Inn after the lot tour...have to say...that place is the bomb...need to stay there soon. It has an art gallery and an automobile museum on the grounds that Babs gave us a tour of because he had been there before. Aston of course was all about the auto museum...too bad he wasn't allowed to touch!

we have been talking about going to asheville for the past few weekends but i think after looking at your pictures we're definitely going to have to plan a trip up soon! it looks just beautiful this time of year. (and i totally agree with anne on dressing aston as a race car driver - surely there's got to be a small helmet somewhere! :) -denise.
