This past weekend we left Aston for 2 nights...something we haven't done in over a year. He stayed with BB and Babs and after the weekend he had, we weren't sure he wanted us to come home and here's why...BB wrote us an email each day detailing what they did during his stay...
Day 1:
"Kate/DD: Asty had a good day.
* Napped almost 3 hrs (one nap only).
* Had a decent, not great lunch (chicken stew and shell pasta), whole orange.
* Only one sippy container milk though.
* Went for a long walk (Asty on new Radio Flyer tricycle) - up to Queens College where we saw digger being loaded on flatbed and when we were half way back to the house he wanted to go back and see digger. When we got back to the college digger on flatbed was gone but another digger was working on the grounds so we stopped and watched about 15 minutes digger dumping loads onto dumptruck - he loved it. His feet reached the pedals but he didn't know how to pedal but most of time had one foot on the pedal and the other hanging - he seemed to enjoy it.
* Watched me make pop corn - had some
* Read some books
* Played with cars (what else is new)
* Imitated me saying Wait Wait Wait
* Looked at Asty blog to refresh his memory of PopPop's digger then later when I asked him if PopPop's digger is green or red, he answered "red"
* Did some chasing
* Did some tickling
* Did some flipping
* Had a good dinner at 5:30 - ate almost whole big turkey meatball and some shells and some whole wheat bread, a few cucumber slices and part of an orange.
* Pooped twice today
* Went to bed at 7:30 right right after Badz got back (caught earlier flight)"
Day 2:
"Hey Guys,
Asty had a busy day today. He woke up @ 5:30 this morning, had a little French toast around 8 but didn't seem too hungry. When we took him out of the high chair he was putting his down on the "cow" and lying around so I put him back to bed at 8:30 and he woke again at 9:30 and finished his French toast. We walked Asty on his Radio Flyer tricycle to Freedom park. Part of the way he got off and wanted to run. We went to one of the playgrounds. He played there about a half hour, then he was over it and pointed out the gate and got back on his tricycle to go. When we got to the entrance of the park we decided to test his sense of direction again and asked him which way to BB's house and he pointed correctly to the left. When we reached Princeton and Queens we asked again which way to BB's and he pointed correctly to the right. He seemed pretty sure of himself when he pointed both times - we were pretty amazed!
Afterward we rode the train to the end of the line, had lunch and headed back. When we told him we were going downtown to take the train, Asty kept saying, "dowtown" (very clearly) and "choo choo". There were lots of back hoes, diggers and dumptrucks along the route. I think he was pretty worn out by all the activity because he was tired for lunch and after a 2 hr afternoon nap was still tired at dinner. All in all he had a fun filled day - best meal was breakfast, drank lots of milk 2 1/2 bottles and 2 poops.
During the day, he would ask, "MaMa??", "DaDa??" and would be fine after we tell him you took an airplane to Boston."
Aston did come home with us on Sunday night but probably because we swept him out of his crib at 10pm so he never knew what hit him...thank you BB and Babs!
We stayed in Boston at The Jurys Hotel the first night...just did Newbury Street shopping and Dinner at Davios with Jason and Leigh Ann on Friday. Saturday we travelled the 45 mins to Bedford, MA for Karin's Big Surprise. The Bedford Village Inn was the location of the party...a really quaint NE Inn where Rob and Karin spent much of their early courtship...Rob did it up right for Karin...think she was more than surprised.
The CD boys (Jeff, John, Josh, Rob, Jason and Bryan) "kareoked" their hearts out for Karin...smash up job boys...especially you Josh...must have been the Heinekens cause that was no Malibu performance:) John was a star solo-kareoker but the videos I got of him came out too dark...dang it! This was the first time using my latest gadget...the Sony HD Webbie (Jeff got me for my birthday)...so it's a rough video at best. Side note...this is my first Flickr embedded video attempt and it is much clearer than the YouTube HD video posts...don't you think? (thanks Anne for the suggestion).
...Karin and the girls...
Here are some photos taken by our friend Bryan Bazemore with his Nikon D90...and tons of associated accessories, btw...can you tell I have equipment envy? Really excellent photos Bryan thanks for letting me share!
