A Few New Aston Phrases and Funnies:
- Every time Aston goes poo poop he comes up with a name for “it”. We've had wormans, hotdogs, snakes, candy canes, rocket ships, volcanos, spring rolls and much much more. We don't encourage this at all…it's just something he does…as wonderfully disgusting funny as it may be:)
- “Mommy! Mia wiped me!” is what Kathryn and I heard from the top of the stairs one day when Mia and Kath came over to play. Kathryn and I rushed upstairs and sure enough Aston had poop pooped and Mia had done an excellent job of cleaning him up:) This particular “one” was a “rocket ship”…I believe Mia now calls hers “rocket ships” too…ha!
- Aston's food is now either “not to bad” or “scrumptious” (a word taught to him by Aunt Wook)
- “Mommy I love you more than you love me”…he came up with this by himself and I feel like that's a hard sentence/concept to grasp? Of course I melted…so ever since we now have “I-love-you-wars”. I will say “I love you” and he will say “No! I love YOU best!” and it just escalates. I feel like I'm positively channelling his 2 year old negativity? right?:)
- “How cool is that!?” when he sees a toy he likes
- He asks Stellyn to play with him by saying “Mei Mei, you wanna play with me? or what?”
- Some new quicky sayings of his: “I certainly do!”, “Ok I will do that”, “or what”, “that's super duper”, “oh yes you do!”, “I think so!”, “what the heck”
Rascal Traits:
- When I look at him sternly because I know he did something naughty he says “What? Whaaah?” while his hands are out to the side as if he has no idea why I'm giving him the look. Then I'll say “Aston, what did you do?” (because Mei is crying and I just know he knocked her down). He will say “nothing”. Arrgh! This pains me for the plain reason that I've entered a whole new stage with him…The sneaky stage. He has officially learned that he can appease me and most importantly to him, avoid punishment by fibbing…boooooooo
Other Notables this Month:
- Jeff likes to watch the food channel when he gets home from work so we often have it on when we are making dinner. Aston gets really into it too. He points out odd ingredients and is on a first name basis with chef's like Bobby Flay (“Bobby”).
- Aston has been completely done with diapers for a full month now. The last to go was “night-time” diapers. It was a breeze and no accidents so far. It got to a point where he was holding it all night and I felt like he was uncomfortably doing so. Since the potty is still in his room we never hear a peep from him…he just goes when he has to while safely locked in his room:) Life is so much easier now for everyone involved.
- Aston had his first ever ear infection this month. He just finished his 1st course of the bubble gum flavored amoxicillin. The ear infection came on as a result of an ugly virus that included Croup. This was his first bout with Croup too. This has to be one of the scariest viruses ever for parents if it gets bad enough. His got so bad that when I got him up from nap one day he could barely walk and could BARELY breath. His breath was very labored and he was somewhat listless. I stuck his head in the freezer (it was warm out and he didn't want a popsicle). After rushing to the doctors he got a nebulizer and liquid steroids. The steroids helped tremendously so we never had to use the nebulizer. Of course Mei got a similar bug a week after he did so we went through it all over again but thankfully her “version” was lighter and shorter (a benefit of breastfeeding I think?). I am soooo ready for summer…so over everyone being icko sickos!!!
- A big step for Aston and Jeff is golf…in the past month or so Aston has gone golfing with Jeff, Babs and Wook 3 times and two of those rounds were over 5 hours on the course. The first time out this season he was all about running around and playing outside with cars and other distractions, but since then he's been asking to go out on our putting green at home to practice golfing 'like daddy'. Jeff's so proud. With each successive round of golf he plays, the more he “golfs” rather than horses around…still not a ton of golfing going on but his interest is definitely there. I think the mere exposure to the sport and how 'enthusiastic' Jeff is with it, makes him want to practice and participate without us pushing him into it…we'll see how this develops.
“Radio-Flyer Racing” was a common scene in January, February, March. It was so chilly outside so Mei, with her wagon, would chase Aston on his scooter around and around a makeshift track in the house:
Always willing to give his sister a hug…even under the kitchen table:
LEFT: I said “Aston!”. He said “Whaah?” after driving his remote control truck into his sister on purpose. RIGHT & BELOW: More remote-controlling (This cool truck was given to him by Uncle Jim when they visited for Tai Yeh's Birthday). He woke up from his nap and put his race suit on mostly by himself. I went up to get him and he said “I wanna race my truck with my racing suit on”. So we went out in 30 degree weather and raced for a good hour…notice Mei's snow suit.
Aston is posing here with no bribes. He just must have been so proud of his race suit.
Lately when Aston sees an object that is anywhere from 2 inches to 4 feet off the ground, he wants to jump off of it…
And guess where he gets it from:This is what happens when he wakes up from nap…straight to the potty…then yells “Mommy! I'm all done with my nap!”
Last weekend was finally nice enough to plant some annuals. Aston had a blast going to home depot with Jeff to buy some flowers and plant them in the big planter on our front step…YAY SPRING!
Aston and friends sing “Jesus Loves Me” at school. They must sing it loud because this is the only song he sings where his voice escalates to a volume not appropriate for indoors (see video).
Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
- Chorus:
- Yes, Jesus loves me!
- Yes, Jesus loves me!
- Yes, Jesus loves me!
- The Bible tells me so.
Aston's been playing golf daily:) He will go play outback all by himself now to hit balls on the Green. Mei and I watch from the kitchen. He lines up all his balls and hits them one by one commentating to himself “nice SHOT!” He started out hitting mostly lefty and now he chooses mostly righty. He has “big boy clubs” but he still likes his “plastics” over his “irons”:)

i am so relating now. my posts are gonna be total incongruity for now on i'm afraid. it's just not possible unless you do separate post for each scene, you know? man, gotta come up with a better system.

Oh Aston, what a character. Naming his poops is just too funny. I'm amazed at how well potty training has gone for him!
