Wow...I can't believe it's only three more measly months until Aston turns three. Jeff and I were just having a heart to heart on the deck last night (over a few glasses of wine of course). The topic was, as always, the kids. It never fails to start by one of us saying something along the lines of..."I can't believe how old the kids are getting"...and then moves on to something like "it's so sad...what can we do to make sure we aren't missing anything?"...and then inevitably Jeff jokingly asks "so you want more?"...and then I say "I'm happy with what I have thank you:)"
So here's what went down in the world of Aston this past month (although I must say I was terrible with keeping notes this month. I think because we've been outside sooo much I've failed to stop and document...sounds good anyway:))
A Few New Aston Phrases and Funnies:
- "Hey Mom? Want to do something with me?"...he says this when he's bored
- One day, as he was standing by the couch, he arched back over the seat of the couch and said "look Mom! I have these too! I can feed Mei Mei right here?" He was pointing to his ribs:)
- New little sayings: "Absolutely!", "That's right", "No problem!", "You better believe it!", "You got it!", "If you want to?"
- "Mom! Mei Mei wants to go to bed...know dat?" when he wants her out of his way
- "Nice shot!" says this appropriately only after good shots (his or Daddy's)...Daddy gets mad when we yell "Good shot!" and it's not...he also yells "Get in the hole!" which makes me laugh because if you know Aston, everything is said with SUCH passion:)
- Everybody has a made up name if you're close to Aston. Like most recently Mia is "Mia Moo"; of course Kate is still "Kate Kate"; Mei is usually "Meimo", "Meips", "Peips" or "Meizers"; Daddy is "Dad" or "Daddy Dude"; and I am either "Mom", "Mommy Dude" or "Momzies"; BB is still "Beebs" and Babs is still "Babby"
Rascal Traits:
- I am still frustrated with this new found fibbing thing but I guess it had to happen sometime...
- He will walk outside without notifying us...very scary...
- He has decided he's scared to pee pee in public potties (as he should be I guess). But it's caused him to uncomfortably "hold it" for too long and he's had 2 accidents recently. One, of which, was on the golf course with Babs and Jeff. Daddy's are never prepared with spare pants but they sure are good improvisors...Jeff utilized Aston's thermal long sleeve as "stand-in" pants (pun intended)
Other Notables this Month:
- Aston really has been more gentle with his sister lately...YIPPY!
- He still LOVES hitting golf balls in the back yard. His attention span is lengthening but still prefers his plastics over his irons:) He loads up Mei's Radio Flyer wagon with balls and drives them over to the tee box where he lines them up one by one and hits them. He still switch-hits but is decidedly better when he hits righty.
- He loves getting the mail with me to see if there are any toy catalogs or flyers and if so, he likes to sit on the front steps and look at every page and say things like "O-H M-Y G-O-S-H!...Mom look! it's a swimming pool with a slide in it!!"
- Aston loves to read the same book at night for a span of a week (or until he memorizes it cover to cover). He can literally recite many of his books from start to finish. The latest book is My Truck is Stuck
So it's spring! and we've been outside EVERYDAY!
He really is a good big brother to his Meips...
BB and Babs brought us to the Raptor Center a couple weekends ago...
they had a little demonstration of the types of birds they care for...
Aston was truly interested once the big birds came out...
Later that day we did a little "cruising" in Daddy's convertible:)
LEFT: Aston's been staying up a little later than his sister lately mainly so he can have a little 2 on 1 time with Jeff and me. LEFT: One night we made box brownies (no eggs...just add yogurt...in case you were worried:)) RIGHT: We browsed Kate's blog while we waited for them to finish up in the oven

really cool tree pic! so glad you still do this. such a good mom/historian you are! aston really does say some funny stuff. think my fave is sitting on the porch and saying OHMYGOSH! love it. he's so expressive-can totally see him saying "get in the hole." and i love how he makes up nicknames. i kind of want one too :)
real cute convo with you and jeff. love that time-on the deck, drinking wine with the hubby! can't wait for more of those. cute asty reading up on the blog! raptor center looks so fun. like the one you took behind him.
The picture of Aston with his "pants" is hilarious. He sounds like such a clever little boy. Ava asked where Aston and Kate were the other day.
omg that picture with aston sporting the shirt with the knot totally cracked me up!!! it's something thang would do too. lol. dads...so resourceful, gotta love that. :-) they really are growing up so fast and saying grown up things.
Yes, they are growing up much too fast! Love that Asty is able to carry on intelligent and fun conversations with adults now.
