Golf at Old North State

Aston goes golfing almost every Sunday with his Dad, Babs and sometimes Mr. Lance and Aunt Wook. Usually they head up to Old North State for an early morning round and then catch lunch/brunch before heading home. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of seeing him in action. Mei and I joined in the fun. While the boys played the front 9, we ran, we showered, we played on the playground and then caught up with them for the back 9.

he has so much determination it's crazy...20110501-DSC_0729.jpg 20110501-DSC_0730.jpg 20110501-DSC_0731.jpg 20110501-DSC_0733.jpg 20110501-DSC_0734.jpg 20110501-DSC_0735.jpg 20110501-DSC_0736.jpg 20110501-DSC_0737.jpg   20110501-DSC_0747.jpg
but the determination only lasts until there is something cooler than golf like a baby turtle20110501-DSC_0753.jpg 20110501-DSC_0754.jpg 20110501-DSC_0756.jpg 20110501-DSC_0761.jpg
the kids and I decided we needed to save the turtle and bring him closer to water so we drove him to hole #14 because it's on the lake:)20110501-DSC_0763.jpg
Aston was a little freaked out about holding it20110501-DSC_0766.jpg
so he dropped it...20110501-DSC_0768.jpg
and his sister did the honors...20110501-DSC_0769.jpg20110501-DSC_0771.jpg 20110501-DSC_0776.jpg
of bidding him farewell by the lake20110501-DSC_0783.jpg 20110501-DSC_0784.jpg
stell rode with Babs in his cart the whole time...she wanted nothing to do with us 20110501-DSC_0796.jpg
she hit a few balls but her ball had to be the pink one 20110501-DSC_0803.jpg 20110501-DSC_0806.jpg
Aston hits the ball the whole way down a par 5 from the tee box, to the fairway, until his ball goes in the hole or Jeff makes him pick up because he's holding up people behind them20110501-DSC_0810.jpg
on the good shots he does a victory dance:) but you better not say "good shot" when it's not because he will get angry with you! wonder where that comes from20110501-DSC_0811.jpg 20110501-DSC_0812.jpg
ONS is cicada city20110501-DSC_0817.jpg
there is just something special about the way these boys stroll up to the green20110501-DSC_0826.jpg 20110501-DSC_0828.jpg
this shot was taken on 18 right before she hit the gas and took off flying with only herself in the cart...yeah...exciting...I ran after her full speed and jumped in to stop it20110501-DSC_0859.jpg

omg i LOVE it!! seems like asty plays righty, right? but i think you mentioned he sometimes is a lefty? maybe he's gonna be a lefty who plays sports righty? love the follow through and the fact that the kid can hang for 4 hours playing 18 holes. amazing. um, mei, you're not getting your license anytime soon!!!

Loved the golf swing comps and the turtle sequence. Your description of the kids' encounter w the turtle is priceless. Can't believe you caught a pic of the turtle in midair! and didn't realize cicadas are so colorful - what a professional quality shot. Great job! BB

sooo impressed with how aston keeps his head down through his entire swing. love the 3 generations playing golf together. i've always had visions of my little family playing as a foursome together when the kids are older--guess we should probably start now!

1. Aston is AWESOME at keeping his head down! The discipline!
2. Love the photo-story of the day and Miss S could not be any cuter in that romper...and don't get me started on the turtle.
3. I can only imagine the shock/horror/hilarity of her sending herself rocketing off in the cart. Too much!
