So a little background: on Monday Aston took a day off from school to visit a "big kid school" for next year. When we picked up Stell from her "little kid school" she asked why she couldn't visit the "big kid school". Of course Aston promptly said "because you are little and you still use pacis!".
As soon as we walked in the door Stell promptly marched upstairs, with her signature sour face, gathered her pacis in her arms and chucked them in the trash. I could not believe my eyes. Long story short, in my excitement I promised a big girl bed now that she's a big girl without pacis. So in her excitement she started designing her dream bed and exclaimed that the UPS man would bring her this new, pink, Rapunzel and Tinker Bell bed tomorrow.
I managed expectations as much as possible but she still would not nap all week. Some because she didn't have her pacis and she was having a hard time finding another way to sooth but mostly because she was fixated on the UPS man bringing her this bed. Every truck that drove by the house she would have her head out her window and yell down to me "UPS man here Mom?!". So today we pretended the UPS man came and delivered her a big girl bed (really just the conversion kit for her crib to make into a toddler bed still in the box;)). Jeff put it together (Rapunzel and Tinker Bell wall decals on order in case you are concerned:)). She was thrilled just the same. I had to lay with her in her new bed until 10:15pm for her to fall asleep tonight but I am so proud of the will and strength of my 2.5 year old little girl. She did it and did it all by herself. She has not o.n.c.e asked for them back. She was ready. RIP pacis.
Top secret: I kept a hot pink one. It's her fave. Shhhhhhh

oh wow! on the big girl bed. yes it's time for both it seems right? do you realize that we did big girl bed for kate when she was 22 mos. what? who does that (eve's age now). you've done great with all of this. the big girl conversion is hard (as you know but can't remember how asto did??). i remember locking kate in her room and letting her cry it out at the door, remember? love the collage /perfect account of it all. nice crocs too! yes, naps may be gone mk but have it work to your advantage! let the kids "play" together and/or watch tv and still get your quiet time/granted it will probably only be for 10-20 mins but still. THEN put them to bed earlier, with a few exceptions when yall do something fun at night. wow this is big. and yes, stell is a tough/determined cookie FOR SURE. i'm proud of her too!
What a big girl she is!!!! She's got some good determination, be proud! Aston is such a sweet boy, Morgan always says he plays with the girls....lol!!! I forgot to ask you where u decided to send Aston next year!!! The new dance looked like a complete success ...she's a natural!!!! Love the collage pic, its perfecto!!!! :)
Wow, what a momentous achievement -two big changes in one day! Hope she'll still nap though like Asty did when he changed over to the big bed, almost until he was around 4 yrs old before totally not taking naps in the big bed, but he had his paci for a while for naps though.
