Last Saturday we were invited to spend the day with Tiger along with the other 40 property owners at High Carolina. Tiger palled around with the group of us explaining his design and what his aspirations are for his first golf course design (Dubai was supposed to be his first but that has stalled apparently due to economic reasons). The older guy with Tiger that you see in the photos is Jim Anthony who started the Cliffs organization…a very cool down to earth man of many accomplishments. Gram, Chuck, BB and Babs travelled with us to Asheville and had the kiddos all day while we hung with TW:) (more on Gram and Chuck’s visit later).
There was a cocktail hour with Tiger that preceded the course design tour. He was only there for 45 minutes or so because he needed to fly out to the Presidents Cup (what a life!). We missed out on our opportunity to talk to him because we got caught up in talking to Lucas and Betsey (Lucas is Jim Anthony’s son…he had some really good insight into the ins and outs of the Cliffs). View from the 18th Tee box. The clubhouse will be situated where you see the tent off to the right, the green off to the left of the two pine trees…WOW, the view is way more spectacular than what I captured!
Tiger challenged Jeff to a Tee-off at the future location of the 10th tee box at High Carolina:. Jeff didn’t have quite the same gallery, shoulder rotation or results for that matter. He also chose to use the same driver Tiger hit so that’s his excuse:)
Tiger’s full swing off the 10th…he hit 3 balls…1st one wasn’t great and the 2nd and 3rd were in the woods…someone shouted “he is human!” Tiger wasn’t bashful in verbalizing his disgust!
