Christmas Tree Hunt ‘09

This year we had high hopes and dreams to start a family tradition of finding a place to go where we could cut down our own tree.  However…we learned in the research process that Fraser Firs only grow in Anson County (and areas surrounding) because it’s cold up there in the Mountainous region of NC.  That would mean we would need to travel almost 2 hours to get a tree.  Next best thing?  Go to Cedar Lake Tree Farm only 40 minutes away where we can pick out a freshly cut Fraser Fir (or you can cut your own other kinds of trees), hang out with farm animals, play on haystacks, sit in old fashion sleighs, and eat cookies and hot chocolate. The next best thing turned out to be perfect.  We are really pleased with our tree too.  The Willettes joined in the fun as did BB, Babs, Tai Yeh and Tai Grandma.

Here’s a little “pre-tree” photo shoot with Mei and her great grands (most taken by Babs and his camera):DSC_0744DSC_0664DSC_0678DSC_0715

Gus the Elf update: since we started “Operation Raise a Giver” Aston has given away 2 cars and tonight he gave Gus his school bus to bring back to Santa to give to another little boy who wants a bus for Christmas.  He’s actually getting a little excited about giving Gus gifts…which is of course so fun for us to watch.  Before bed tonight he told us how Gus is gonna take the bus he gave him and fly to the North Pole when “I sleeping” and give it to Santa.

We also adopted a 2 year old little boy from an Angel Tree today…his name is Scott Nay and he wants a Monster Truck and an Electronic Guitar…Aston’s will have no problem shopping for Scott:)DSC_0014
