A Daddy Race and A Soccer Aston

Jeff ran in the 1st Annual Rock & Read 5k on Saturday. He did very well and came in second in his 30-39 age group! The event looked/sounded like it was a blast...hoping for a second annual so we can make it a family even next year. A special thanks to Jon Davis for motivating much of the office to participate and for helping organize the event! I'm a proud wife of a guy who refused to run up until several months ago...good work hon...since I wasn't there to document...he's speeding by in this clip from the WCNC news last night...catch him if you can!

Next up on the docket for our Saturday was Aston's first day of soccer at the Harris YMCA...it started out great...

Everybody participated in the pre-scrimmage stretch...

we witnessed some spurts of participation here and there...but mostly it was grump city.

Kate did well...but next time we will spit these 2 up in separate groups...we suspect they fed each other a case of the grumps...

There were a few too many breaks like this one...

and this one...

Brooke stole my camera for a minute to snap a few of her boys in another group...tooo cute...they are all lined up...looks like the grass is greener over there...Noah is 2nd from the left and Griffin is "Mr. Funny" in the back...

Stell and Cole waited on the sidelines...as long as Stell has a snack she's good...

but she had to get out...I was flat outta snacks...

and here they are at the end of it all...Aston's closing his eyes so he doesn't have to participate in the huddle...oye

The 3 amigos reunite for some juice boxes after it all. They do look pooped...Aston had 2 juice boxes and then later had the biggest lunch ever...he claimed he was hungry before we even got to soccer...I should have listened...but not sure that would've helped his performance:)

Emi was screaming she was hungry the whole time as well - that'll teach 'em to skip breakfast! We had to have a mid-practice snack just so she wouldn't pass out on the field. I think with each week they'll do better - I was impressed they participated at all - felt like since there were no tears it counted as a smash success, right? I do feel though for 3 year olds that 45 minutes is a l.o.n.g. time.
p.s. love that stelly is rockin' the chimbas (piggytails) - <3 it!

i know this post is all about jeff and aston, but just have to say i love stellyn's do and how she got out there to kick a few balls. that shot of jeff and stellyn is also amazing, a real keeper/framer.
your shots make aston look like a littler kicker--hopefully he starts getting in to it more next week!
and p.s. to anne--great legs!

So much fun! Glad to know that Zoe wasn't the only one who really didn't want to be there. Love the pics of Aston & Kate "trapping"? their matching balls, and the one of Jeff swinging Stelly around - too cute! Maybe this week will be better now that they know what's to be expected!
