Anne invited us to run in the Tyler's Treehouse 5K and 1-mile Fun Run last weekend. It truly was good old wholesome family fun.
First up: Anne and I ran the hill infested 5K while the men and babes spectated with camera's and double joggers.
Jeff snapped these right outta the gates...
This is me sprinting to the finish! I wish I was running this fast the whole time...I so desperately wanted to catch Mama Anne but just didn't have it in me. She took third in our age group and our friend Kathy took 2nd place! All the shots of Anne were blurry boooo. Here are the official results...my guntime was 24:59 just to document.
The after shot...legs were numb here...
Next up: the kids! We registered Kate and Aston to run in the kids fun run...a whole 1 miler!
Mei and her Baby Eve...they nearly look the same height here...
The racer...made official by the bib number...
Sir Purr was there! Aston was not shy about saying hey...Kate was apprehensive as she always is with character's in costume...
Thanks Mama Anne for the family shot...
Lining up at the start...game faces are ON!
A little Mama Anne led stretching...
On your mark, get set....
GO! Asty immediately "off roads" it to get around the crowd...Kate and I are chasing him...(see green shorts way to the right)
Mr. A burned himself out early...Kate took the lead before the halfway mark...
And then he found some new wind! btw...the shoes he is wearing are 2 sizes too small! sore toe city afterwards.
Kate finished first but I was so so proud of my bud...he had his game face on throughout the race and really pushed through with one measly minute in the stroller and a few side track sessions in the lawns of homeowners along the way...
The post race blank stare...
A high five with his best racing pal...
Rehydrating...
Post race baby snuggles...
Post race pooped racers...literally...they were lying in goose poop...gross

Kate...what amazing pictures of everyone in your family at the race(and Anne's lovely family, too)!
Congratulations on your great time...there is always next race to catch Anne!!!
Wow..Aston and Kate did so well to run the mile..even though were a few side tracks and stroller time...they are only 3 years old!
What will they be like at 5 years old!
Of course your mother MUST comment on the picture highlighting your sunshine tattoo!!!! Great shot!
I love you, Gram
LOVE IT! Way to go mama on racing - great time you posted - the pics of the kidlets running are hysterical. love mama anne showing them how to stretch before the race and asty off-roading - take the short cut my friend! can i say i also love the goose poop shot?
This is one of my fave post. I mean maybe because I'm featured but still. Kind of love the first shot of me. is that so wrong? Thanks MJ. KATE! If I had known you were right behind me,literally, I would have hung with you. Geez. Feel bad about it. I just thought, by your comment at the beginning, that you were gonna just take it slower (relatively speaking) and shoot, low and behold you were right there. Well of course you were! You did so great!
I love so many of these. I love aston, ready set go. I LOVE goose poop, the way asty is looking at kate is priceless. I love stelly, ma and kate (stole for my post), love tatoo (bruce got on of these too). I mean Aston was handicapped with those shoes. Yall should be ashamed ;). Love Gram's comments too.
p.s. love mama kate and asty by tree.
That's a pretty picture of you going across the finish line. Your face looks calm and serene, mine would have been contorted and twisted if I was running hard. Anyway, looks like a fun day!

ps meant to tell you there's a photo "not currently available" on the post?
you all are rock stars! awesome. i'm with brooke--love the tattoo shot. ;) also, loving the braid coming out of the visor--not sure it'll work for my tri, but i'm thinking i'll have to try it out.
can't believe we haven't done this with our kids yet. so cool to see the 3-year-olds go for a mile. i'm anxious to sign us up for a fun run now.
how much running and passing the camera around did you guys do? great to get so many different perspectives. as always, love your storytelling.
what a fun day! maybe someday the nguyens will get in shape to do this. loved that the whole family participated. love the kids crashing on the pooped grass post race. you guys look great!!
So awesome! My fav pics - the "poop" (love the irony), the pic of you sprinting, and the game face pic. Oh, and your captions were perfect! So much fun; hope the bradleys can join you in some future race!!
Love pics of the kids running in the race - especially that they were taught to warm up too by Mama Anne.
