Captiva Island for Babs 60th Birthday!

First of all, sorry for the 365 photos. I really did delete 200 to get to this number. Lots of photos for lots of family fun that's my excuse:)

Captiva Island, FL is a special place. It is where Jeff's family had a second home for many years, it is 30 minutes to Ft. Myers where Tai Grandma and Tai Yeh live and not to mention gorgeous (even better under normal weather circumstances). We visited their old vacation home and found that it was for sale! Aunt Wook looked it up and found that the sale price was in the multi-millions...so much for buying it back!

Despite the record low temperatures and high winds...we really did have a wonderful family vacation. Even welcomed Pop Pop and Holly for 3 days (Aston was very pleasantly surprised)!

Captiva Activities Included:
Sea Shell Hunting: but of course! apparently there are only a handful of shell paradises in the world and the Sanibel/Captiva area is one of them. Wookie was the shell lady...always getting the good ones...Aston had to taste each one to see if they could withstand the bite test.

Running: Daddy got all the 30 somethings to go for a 2 mile run down Captiva Dr along the beach. Yes...that included me and my 6+ month pregnant self.

Eating: We did really well this trip not eating out for every meal. BB made pasta one night, the boys grilled out a couple times and BB and Babs brought Dim Sum that actually fed the bunches of us for a couple of lunches. YUM!

Boating: Babs rented us a boat on the warmest day of the week...it turned out to be beautiful!

At one point we were surrounded by dolphins...they gave us a really amazing show.

We had lunch at Barnacle Phil's a little dock up fish house on North Captiva. Barnacle Phil's dining area was filled with dollar bills with patrons names on them. Wook and Jay decorated one and posted it and we did one for Aston...maybe we will return someday and see if it's still there! Later Babs dropped us off on a remote island with some crazy cool trees (again sorry for the tons of photos) while he took Grandma, Yeh Yeh and Pop Pop fishing. Aaadie fell asleep on the way home:)

Golfing: Jeff, Wook, Uncle Jay went golfing at Naples National one day...the report was windy but beautiful...The next golf trip was more local (the course across from Grandma's house)...this time Pop Pop went along.

Pool Bathing: Aston loved the pool and hot tub at the house. The pool was pretty warm because the hot tub spilled into it. He was jumping in from a seated position off the side and would go under and come up laughing...no fear

Coconut Experimenting: Babs and Jeff decided to gather the coconuts around the outside of our house (both on the ground and still connected to the trees) and opened them up. Once gathered Pop Pop got in on the action by getting his power tools out from the car. There was chiseling and drilling and 30 minuted later we had coco juice and meat. Wook found out that the coconut water is one of the most nutritious drinks nature provides...it was really tasty...although looses its taste quickly in the fridge. BB put the meat in the oven so the shell would crack open...the meat was good too but at 57 grams of fat per serving we just took a sample.

Ping Ponging: We had a ping pong table in the bottom floor of the house. Turns out we had a few good pongers in the family...Daddy was house champ until Pop Pop came along and robbed him of his undefeatedness:)

Celebrating: The Bubble Room! The Bubble Room was where we chose to celebrate Babs turning the big 60. It really was perfect...very kid friendly, lots to look at, and cakes galore. Aston was mostly occupied by the choo choo that circled the restaurant. Between Jeff, Pop Pop, Babs and I we did need to take Aston on walks around to look at all the exhibits. He was most interested in all the brrm brrms in the cases.
