A Few of Aston’s New Words:
Zoom, highway, trailer, beans, see, crash, child watch, the ladies (because we call the cleaning ladies, “the ladies”), lawn mowers (we take him to Lowes and Home Depot just to sit on the riding mowers), good, ummm, bird, roll-up, pig, knock, fast, reach, go go go, P.U., turtle, fish, skip, tambourine, Aston see, three, excuse me (“suse me”), I sad, o.k. (“otay”), stuck, rap, mangos, GTO, Jaguar, break/broke, steering wheel, trunk, airplane, cheerios, suncakes, steamed cake, shapes, park, tunnel, flag, cones (as in construction), hummus, treats, that way
New Chinese Words:
Apple—ping guo, Bread—mien bow, Thank You –xie xie (pronounced sheh, sheh), mango—manguo
New Favorite Foods:
Fruit bites from Costco, Organic puffs, Suncakes! (chocolate chip or apricot), hummus on anything
Rascal Traits:
-Aston is hitting his friends more frequently…sometimes for no reason but usually if they take his cars…I loose sleep over this one.
-He now will only sit in his booster seat…will not use a high chair at home
-Everyday he gets better and better at manipulating us…even to the point of playing us off of each other. So if one of us says “no” he will go to the other to see if he can elicit a better response. Other ways of manipulating come by way of tilting his head to the side, getting all lovey and huggy and saying in the sweetest voice “emmies?” or “treats?” or “papaaa?”…I never get lovey Aston so I find myself giving into this one a lot!
Other Notables this Month:
-Aston performs a “skip” that kind of looks like a skip but with one limp leg dragging behind him (sort of like a "ride that pony dance move"--as quoted by Jeff:))
-When he is asked a question like “who did you see at school today?” he uses “ummm” to pause and think about his response. So he will be like “ummm, Kate, ummm, Mia, ummmm, Giffy…etc”
-Aston now puts “I” before emotions and actions. When he’s upset he will say “I Sad” and when he wants to push his bike he will say “I push”
-When things are truly stinky he will say “P.U.” for some reason I find this hilarious
-When he listens to his favorite CD’s in the car he will say the most emphasized word in each verse. He’ll do this Sometimes in anticipation of the word and sometimes after they say it.
-Aston was given a bunch of musical instruments by his Aunt Chrissy which I introduced to his world just a week ago or so. One of the items is a tambourine. The tambourine was an instant favorite because of it’s dual sounds (the jingle part and the drum part). It wasn’t too long into their relationship before Aston stood on his tambourine and put a very large hole through the thing. Of course we reprimanded him for standing on it, but we have never witnessed such a remorseful look on his face. It was apparent that he felt terrible for his tambourine! Jeff said he just wanted to pick him up and hug him after we had just scolded him.
-Anything he wants us to see he says “watch” or anything he wants to watch he says “I see?”
-He is able makes things plural now. If you ask him whose car that is he’ll say “Daddy’s”
-He become really good at the air guitar…he knows a guitar when he hears it. Plays the drums too if that’s appropriate.
-Makes the high pitch noises that the pit crew’s impact wrench makes when they are changing race car tires

such a cute photo of aston and i love hearing all the little things he says and does. it's amazing to me how they grow into these little people right before our eyes.
An addition to milestones, although this started months ago - Aston's interest is peaked when we recount an event in the past and his expressions (especially with his eyes)demonstrate that he is really concentrating to remember all the details of a particular event as we're talking to him - it's very cute and it's been a good diversionary tactic to calm him down when he starts to get restless - if we catch it early before the restlessness grows into a tantrum. He is also "all ears" when he is the topic of cnversation.
BB.
kate...these updates are amazing! aston will cherish these and it will be fun to look back when baby #2 is at the same stage (its amazing how your memory can become fuzzy on these milestones so quickly). looking forward to seeing you guys on thursday...but will also be excited if i hear you are at the hospital instead! :)
