Here Comes the Son (or the Daughter:))

In an attempt to keep this blog not about me and all about Aston, I have been remiss in documenting my pregnancy with Baby 2 (who will be joining us momentarily on this very blog). So in an effort to make up for some of that neglect…here is a taste of where we are with Baby 2:

I am due on Wednesday (May 20th 2009)…yes in 3 days. Dr. Meek has scheduled me to be induced on Friday if I end up going that long. I have mixed feelings about being induced. On the one hand I want Baby 2 to arrive in a timely manner, not early but not too late and I also have a history of slightly large babes so I would rather not delivery a 10lb babe if I can help it. BUT…with Pitocin, I have heard that there can be more pain due to the contractions being faster and stronger? So this could mean that I will have a harder time staving off the pain medication. I am also assuming I will need to be monitored more closely than I would without the Pitocin IV? So this could mean that I will be bed ridden and unable to lie about my contractions:) With Aston I would lie and say I wasn’t having contractions so they wouldn’t make me push…an advantage to not having drugs. It’s not like I slowed anything down…he still came within 1 hour. Then there is the obvious…it’s just not natural…I know these are all things to bring up with Dr. Meek but this is where my head is now…a bit weary.

The other day I made Jeff take some goofy belly photos of me so I wouldn’t regret not having any of Baby 2 and so many of Aston in my belly (professionally done…but a bit CHEEEZEZ). So below is what Baby Lee 2 looks like now. To me this looks like the same belly and feels like the same pregnancy, for that matter, as with Asty. All has been very similar. Differences may be that I don’t crave spicy foods like I did the first time…more like carbs and sweets, I seem to have more energy, I gained about the same but I started 10lbs lighter this time, heart rates are the same, movement is just as crazy almost painful this time, contractions are more often and I feel them more, they both had Choroid Plexus Cysts on the brain that should have gone away earlier than they did, Baby 2 has enlarged kidneys that will need to be monitored after birth (3x more likely in boys than girls), my belly button popped right away and I was showing MUCH earlier. All minor differences I think.

Here’s a taste of the belly…I realize there is some "cheese" in these too...guess I am just a terrible belly poser...I do need to get one with belly and Aston too.

your belly shots look beautiful, no cheese at all. we never see ourselves the way others do. i am sure baby #2 will appreciate these very much. i hope that baby 2 will come on his own so that you won't have to get induced. i agree with you on wanting things to be more natural.

love the pics. tasteful and i love that you and jeff did them actually. you know? real cute. meant to ask you today about the cyst thing. i would talk to your doc about your concerns, like you are, and then others that have been induced (i can give you cecilia's email if you want, she was). it may help you get a better pic of what to expect? either way, baby lee's gonna be here soon and we just can't wait to meet her/him!!

i'm still rootin' for a girl - the pics look fab - girl, you look amazing for being so pregnant. i swear by this point my hair was swollen! def talk with your doc - we had to be induced and it wasn't that bad - maybe not ideal, but not the worst thing in the world either. c'mon girlie lee!!!! :)
